We can rebuild the early Saginaw CV joints on these cars and Hi-Speed Balance the driveshaft. Be aware that some of the hard parts (mid slip yoke and sleeve) are obsolete. If these parts are damaged we can not replace them. If you have vibration issues - Please get inspected and repaired by a quality driveshaft shop as soon as possible.
Ball and Trunion
Chrysler - Dodge - Plymouth - Packard
We offer a modern U-Joint Conversion Driveshaft for the old type Ball and Trunion. We can modify your driveshaft with the new component parts. Not recommended because the rest of the shaft is still 40+ year old and by the time you send it with shipping charge we are not very far from a new assembly.
A new driveshaft assembly with the one flange at transmission typically runs $435 to 495 + shipping. This is a complete assembly and ready to bolt in. No modification to the vehicle is needed.
Pricing included Spicer XL series U-Joints. The Spicer XL is the best U-Joint made. Some early Chrysler and Packard's also hade a flat flange at the differential. That flange will add $ 45 or $65 to the price.
Use M1-6 in the Measure Sheet section for a single flange at the Transmission.
Use M1-7 if a Flange at Transmission and Differential.
We will need to know the O.D (outside diameter) of the existing B&T flange. The OD is the pilot. Typical choices are 3 5/8 (3.625) or 4.0.
We have done 100's with a perfect success rate of 100%.
